FAQ

  • Q: Should I do anything to prepare for my tattoo appointment?

Properly preparing for your tattoo can dramatically affect your experience. When you’re getting tattooed we are opening a wound on your body. This requires a lot of physical energy, so preparing your body will usually make it much easier to endure and heal. Get a good night’s sleep before and after, stay well-hydrated and have a filling meal beforehand. Don’t drink alcohol the night before or it may affect the healing of your tattoo! It’s also usually a good idea to bring a snack and water bottle (please don’t bring peanuts though cause I’m very allergic!). If your tattoo takes more than a couple hours, you will probably get hungry again because of how hard your body is working! I do keep spare snacks and water at the studio if you forget your own <3 It’s also important to take care of your skin. Regularly moisturizing the area you plan on getting tattooed beforehand makes my job easier, which means it’ll be over faster! If you have a sunburn, a rash or a wound on the area you want to get tattooed, we will need to reschedule. So just let me know beforehand if anything like that happens and we can reschedule your appointment or do the tattoo in a different placement.

  • Q: How much will my tattoo cost?

A: My rate is $150/hr with a $150 minimum and I offer discounts for sessions that take 4+ hours. I also charge an additional $100 design fee for custom tattoos. When you submit a booking form, you can let me know what your budget is. I will usually be happy to work with it, but If your budget is unlikely to work for the tattoo you want I’ll make some suggestions as to how we can make a more affordable tattoo for you!

  • Q: Do you require a deposit to book? What if I need to reschedule?

A: I require a $100 non-refundable deposit to book an appointment as insurance for last minute cancellations and no-shows. The deposit goes towards the final cost of your tattoo, so if your tattoo costs $300, then you would pay $200 at your appointment. Please give me at least 48 hours notice if you need to reschedule your appointment. If you reschedule with less than 48 hours notice I will require a new $100 deposit.

  • Q: What is the custom tattoo process like?

A custom tattoo is when you present me with an idea for a tattoo and I bring it to life, like a funky Lily-ai program. Customs usually turn out the best if you really like my drawing/tattooing style and have an idea for something that you think would look cool in my style. I will send a very very rough draft of your design before continuing, to give you the opportunity to request any edits. You’ll see the final draft of your design at the appointment and we can make any simple changes if necessary. I always prefer to be as prepared as possible for your tattoo and usually cannot make any large changes at the last minute. I will not tattoo you unless you’re 100% excited for it and will not pressure you into anything. That said, I may make suggestions if you ask for something that is not tattooable or that I don’t think will work with the composition. I love to collaborate and figure out how to best bring your idea to life in a way that will flow well with your body and age well. If we end up not being able to come up with a design that you love then I may suggest another artist that could better bring your vision to life. It’s totally fine if this happens! Again, I don’t want to tattoo you unless you’re 100% down.

Another type of custom tattoo I love to do is pop culture imagery or famous artworks! Examples of work I would like to tattoo include iconography like powerpuff girls or georgia o’keefe paintings. I will refuse to do a design if it is stealing a design from another working artist without their explicit consent.

For some custom tattoos I may ask that we have a quick 10-20 minute consultation before scheduling your tattoo. I offer both virtual and in-person consultations, though in-person is preferred as it gives me a chance to design more specifically to your anatomy. We will discuss your idea more in-depth to make sure we are on the same page.

  • Q: What is a color test?

All tattoos look different from when they’re fresh to when they are healed. Once the tattoo has been freshly made, the skin where the ink has been deposited is an open wound. Once it heals, a new layer of skin will form over the tattoo which can affect how the color looks. Everyone has a unique skin tone, so if you would like an idea of how different colors look through your skin once they’re healed we can do a color test!

A color test is just a very quick appointment where we tattoo tiny ‘samples’ of each color you’re interested in. These could be little shapes (squares, circles, triangles, etc.), lines, stars, hearts, dots or anything else simple like that. I only offer color tests to clients that are booking a tattoo with me so there’s an option to request one in your booking form! Color tests are free for BIPOC and $25 for everyone else.

  • Q: Do you offer touch-ups?

A: There are so many factors that can affect how your tattoo heals. How I apply it, how you take care of it, how your body heals, as well as other factors that may be completely out of our control. It’s totally normal if your tattoo doesn’t heal perfectly, so I offer free touch-ups if you feel that it needs it. If you would like a touch-up please submit a booking form and select the “touch-up” option.

  • Q: What are your covid policies?

A: Masks are required at your appointment at all times. I have extra masks at my studio if you forget one, but please try and bring your own. I have moderate to severe asthma, so I ask that you please respect that by rescheduling your appointment if you are sick or have been exposed to covid.

  • Q: Where are you located?

A: I am currently working out of my art studio in Bushwick in Brooklyn, NY. It’s a few blocks from the Kosciuszko J train station. If you’re planning to get tattooed in a placement that you’d like privacy, just let me know. We can schedule on a day that no one else will be in the studio. Once you submit a deposit for the tattoo I’ll send you the studio address along with other details <3

  • Q: Is your studio handicap accessible?

A: The studio is on the second floor of the building with no ramps or elevator. If this is not accessible for you let me know in your booking form and I can arrange to do your tattoo out of another studio in the area that is accessible!
